Icicles

A Dr. Seuss tree

Mother Nature made quite a visit to our home last week. 5 inches of snow with a light coating of ice. As my sister Vicky said, "Like icing on the cake." Personally I would rather have cake!

"Winter giveth the fields, and the trees so old,
Their beards of icicles and snow..."
~Charles duc d’Orléans, translated by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Segovia, Spain

Spectacular Segovia, Spain. Our trip to Spain included time spent discovering this beautiful city and learning about its rich history. What an incredible place. Memories that will be with me forever.

Longing for Summer Nights

Oh how I am longing for summer nights. Looking forward to when our backyard looks like this again. The fragrance of the flowers blooming, the sound of the fountain gurgling into the pond, the baby birds being fed at our feeders and long hours spent on the deck watching the fireflies darting by.

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time." ~John Lubbock

Spanish Roses

Sometimes the only way to get through a cold winter's day is to remember a warm summer's day on vacation and to plan for the next one. Exactly how we are spending our day today.

I took this photo in Granada, Spain last September. Looking forward to visiting that beautiful country again this year.

While you are trying to stay warm and wondering if Spring will ever come...take a moment to close your eyes and imagine yourself somewhere warm with the beauty of nature all around you. You can almost smell these roses now, can't you?

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." ~Albert Camus

Another day at the beach

We're still putting up with Mother Nature's cold shoulder so how about another day at the beach? Still 85F degrees with a warm breeze blowing. That water looks inviting after a rest in the sun. Just relax and enjoy. Winter will be gone soon.

"Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit.  A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world."  ~Ada Louise Huxtable
